One of the grandest Sicilian wine producers stay strictly to using traditional Sicilian grapes. Their pride Duca Enrico is made solely of Nero d'Avola. They put their trust on contracted growers across the island. While their whole production is very polished it's charming that they are not dragged with in the international folly of French grapes, but rather show that the Sicilian grapes produce wine of world class.
Grapes used for red wine are Nero d'Avola, Perricone and Frappato. Their pride red, Duca Enrico, is made of solely Nero d'Avola.
Grapes used for white wine are Inzolia, . Their pride white, Bianca di Valguarnera, is made of solely Inzolia. That's the wine that in 1824 started the whole thing.
Duca di Salaparuta is at present a part of the CORVO cooperative, but should not be mixed up with the more plain CORVO wines.
